Optical Ground Wire (OPGW) is a dual-purpose cable used in power transmission and distribution networks, combining grounding and high-speed data communication in a single design.
Installed at the top of high-voltage transmission towers, its conductive outer layer provides effective grounding and shields the conductors from lightning strikes.
Integrated optical fibres within the cable enable secure, high-bandwidth data transmission for network monitoring and telecommunications.
